September 2, 2024 – In a major upset at the J30 Bengaluru tournament, Anvi Punaganti knocked out the 2nd seed Kashvi Sunil in a captivating first-round clash. Punaganti, from the same state (Karnataka) as Sunil, displayed remarkable skill and resilience to secure a hard-fought victory with a score of 7-6(4), 6-4.

On Day 1 of the KSLTA -ITF World Tennis Tour J30 Main Draw, several players advanced from the Round of 32 in the Boys and Girls Singles Under-18 categories. In the Boys Singles, Tanussh Ghildyal defeated Arjun Oza 6-3, 6-2, while Vishal Vasudev M overcame Har Abir Sekhon 7-6(6), 6-2. Third seed Adhiraj Thakur won against Tejas Ahuja 6-4, 6-0, and Prabir Mukesh Chavda beat Srivaant Reddy Mummadi 6-2, 6-2. In the Girls Singles, top seed Sreenidhi Balaji defeated Shanvitha Reddy Nukala 6-1, 6-3, and Aleena Farid won against Gurleen Kaur Khanuja 6-1, 6-1. Aanya Choubey overcame Vennela Reddy Gaarugupati 6-2, 6-1, Asmi Adkar defeated Pal Upadhyay 6-1, 6-0, and Angel Patel came from behind to win against Arzan Khorakiwala 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. Eighth seed Shaivi Gaurav Dalal triumphed over Aakruti Narayan Sonkusare 6-3, 6-4, and Disha Behera defeated Meghana G D 6-1, 6-3. Amodini Naik won against Shagun Kumari 6-0, 6-0, Danica Fernando beat Sree Syleswari Velmanikandan 6-3, 6-1, and Anushka Bhola overcame Vamika Sharma 6-3, 6-3. The day ended with Anvi Punaganti causing a significant upset by defeating second seed Kashvi Sunil 7-6(4), 6-4.
