The ITF-J30 Bengaluru tennis tournament saw an action-packed day of quarterfinals in both the Boys' and Girls' Under-18 singles categories, with top seeds making strong statements.
Sehaj Singh Pawar(S1) Triumphs in Marathon Match
In one of the most gripping matches of the day, top-seeded Sehaj Singh Pawar outlasted Gurbaz Narang 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 in a battle that lasted 2 hours and 45 minutes. Pawar showed exceptional resilience after dropping the first set, using his powerful baseline game and tactical brilliance to turn the match around. His comeback was characterized by aggressive serving and a series of well-executed forehands, securing his place in the semifinals.
Sreenidhi Balaji(S1) Marches On
Top seed Sreenidhi Balaji continued her dominant run in the Girls' Under-18 singles, defeating seventh-seed Aleena Farid (S7) 6-4, 6-4. Balaji's consistency from the baseline and intelligent shot selection were the key factors in her straight-set victory. She maintained pressure on her opponent with deep groundstrokes, forcing errors and demonstrating why she remains a favorite for the title.
Snigdha Kanta(S4) Cruises to Semifinals
Fourth-seed Snigdha Kanta put in a commanding performance, defeating Asmi Adkar 6-3, 6-4. Kanta’s court coverage and ability to dictate play from the back of the court helped her control the match from the outset. She broke Adkar’s serve multiple times, using her sharp backhand to dominate rallies and move into the semifinal stage with ease.
Amodini Naik(S3) Impresses with Straight-Set Victory
Third-seed Amodini Naik delivered a solid performance against eighth-seed Shaivi Gaurav Dalal, winning 6-0, 7-5. Naik's commanding start saw her take the first set in just 30 minutes, showcasing her aggressive playing style and precise shot-making. Though Dalal fought back in the second set, Naik held her nerve during the crucial points to close out the match in straight sets, continuing her impressive run in the tournament.
With these victories, Sehaj Singh Pawar, Sreenidhi Balaji, Snigdha Kanta, and Amodini Naik move one step closer to the coveted ITF-J30 Bengaluru title.
