Vanya Srivatsav came back from the brink of defeat to send the top seed Gagana Mohankumar home while reaching the finals of the KSLTA-AITA U-16 Talent Series an event on the Tattvam Junior Tour, here on Thursday.

 After both the opponents had claimed a set apiece in the first semifinal tie, Vanya, trailing 3-5, and down by two match points in the decider, not only breached the defence of her fancied rival but went on to win four games on the trot to emerge victorious. This was after the 14-year-old Frank Anthony Public School student had won the first set comfortably at 6-2 and had lost the second at 1-6.

 It was a third straight loss against Vanya for Gagana, who attended her 9^th standard exams online from the venue itself. Later, the two foes joined hands to make it to the final of the Girls doubles. Vanya meets fourth seed Sree Tanvi Dasari in the title round with the latter emerging a 6-4, 6-1 victor over giant killer Anvi Punaganti.

 Meanwhile in the boys section, Sriniketh Kannan will lock horns with third seed Kriish Ajay Tyagi for the honours. While Sriniketh beat Dev Shivashanker in the first semifinal, Kriish quelled the challenge of Sehaj Singh Pawar in the other last-four encounter.
